Fhin opens his latest tune ‘Holy Drops’ with an unassuming acoustic guitar, an element we haven’t heard used by this multi-talented French producer before, but what it adds is a romantic flair. His layered and subtly warped vocals creatively paint the central image - “holy drops come out of her eyes and run on her cheeks until they die.” The strings drop away for a surge of his familiar electronic style - clipped vocal sounds add to the textural intensity of the bass whomps, hand claps and synthesised drums. Later on, we hear a return of the strings, but as an interplay between the trickling acoustic and staggered electronic. It’s a moment that really sums up Fhin’s style, that use of organic and digital tools put through his precise production. This is Fhin’s second single - following on from ‘Quand On Arrive En Ville’ - since his brilliant A Crack In The Eyes EP which set the bar very high indeed, but it’s safe to say that ‘Holy Drops’ is keeping fans very happy indeed. - HT
